“Recanto” is the new album by Gal Costa, a true legend of bossa nova. A loving tribute to Caetano Veloso, who has composed all the songs for her and explains:" I wanted an album made especially for her voice. I simply do not remember his past success but with her produce an album that would express in our day but always at the level of the music that we compose a life. The lyrics are very direct and somewhat puzzling, I could not avoid it ... "Recanto Dark" is a biography of Gal encrypted but that actually contains many elements of my personal history. The whole album reveals a stunning juxtaposition of simple vocals and nice Gal electronic sounds that enrich our world today and make music. Listening to the disc along with the other musicians in the group that I selected to accompany Gal, also including two of my children, we realized that "Recanto", even in its new form, is always close to the musical sounds that have characterized my career and that Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Maria Bethania, and ever since we started our story many years ago in Bahia. A disk can not miss it revives the splendor of the best bossa nova.
