In "Luso Noir" eleven of the leading exponents of the music scene of Angola, Cape Verde and Mozambique pay homage to the various forms of saudade, that feeling that the characteristic feature of the Portuguese conquistadors were scattered in these African countries (as well as in Brazil) and has become an integral part of their culture. Sadness, nostalgia, melancholy: none of these translations can be expressed well depth of the concept of saudade and the feelings that arise from it. The Portuguese Empire in Africa has lasted 500 years, finally dissolving in 1975 after a series of bloody revolutions. The saudade however remained, not only as a musical genre but as a typical approach to life, a legacy of colonization that not only survived but thrived. "Luso Noir" allows us to discover a fascinating musical world yet little known, capable of highlighting the new prospects of post-independence Lusophone African populations. The CD, with a full track list featuring songs Mingas, Teté Alinho, Wazimbo, Orchestra Marrabenta Star de Mozambique, Bonga, Dulce, Reziana Jaime Araujo Terezinha, Ghorwane and Guimaraes, is further enhanced with a video track of "Nwahulwana" Wazimbo of a song African haunting beauty.
