Rita Marcotulli was born in Rome in 1959, and studied piano at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory. Since the early Eighties she's been performing with relevant European and American artists, such as Chet Baker, Peter Erskine, Richard Galliano, Steve Grossman, Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Charlie Mariano, Pat Metheny, Michel Portal, Enrico Rava, Aldo Romano, Kenny Wheeler. She has composed film soundtracks, and music for dance projects by choreographers Roberta Garrison and Teri J. Weikel. She has taken part in several tv broadcasts in Danmark, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Sweden, including the 1996 edition of the Sanremo Festival, where she performed a duet with Pat Metheny. Rita Marcotulli has been awarded “Best Italian Jazz musician” at Top Jazz 2011, the critics poll made by Musica Jazz, the main Italian jazz music magazine. Rita Marcotulli was born in Rome in 1959, and studied piano at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory. Since the early Eighties she's been performing with relevant European and American artists, such as Chet Baker, Jon Christensen, Palle Danielsson, Peter Erskine, Richard Galliano, Steve Grossman, Joe Henderson, François Jeanneau, Helène La Barrière, Joe Lovano, Charlie Mariano, Marilyn Mazur, Pat Metheny, Sal Nistico, Tony Oxley, Michel Portal, Enrico Rava, Aldo Romano, Kenny Wheeler. In 1987 she was nominated best young talent in the "Musica Jazz" Poll. In 1988 she joined Billy Cobham's band, and toured extensively Europe and the United States. She has composed film soundtracks, and music for dance projects by choreographers Roberta Garrison and Teri J. Weikel. At present she's performing with various internationally based groups, including a quartet under her own name (featuring Tore Brunborg, Anders Jormin and Anders Kjellberg), a trio with Palle Danielsson and Bob Moses, a quintet co-lead with Maria Pia De Vito, a duo with Pietro Tonolo another quartet with Enrico Rava, Richard Galliano and Enzo Pietropaoli, the Palle Danielsson Quintet. She has taken part in several tv broadcasts in Danmark, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Sweden, including the 1996 edition of the Sanremo Festival, where she performed a duet with Pat Metheny.
