Alberto Sanna grew up playing rock and blues. This work of his shows great maturity and marks a new step in Alberto Sanna’s artistic development, significantly entitled “Canzoni per (r)esister” (“Songs to exist/resist”, the two terms in Italian occur to be even more similar, since they differ just in a letter), that reveals us the main theme of the whole project, as well as the musician’s philosophy: the strong feeling of resistance, inevitably linked to the ability of living without giving up our strongest passions, such as music. Autobiographical, intimate and love dimensions, sharp texts in which the storyteller opens up with a deep sensitivity, more and more profoundly comparing to past times.
Alberto Sanna grew up playing rock and blues. Since he debuted as bass player in 1987 with the Masoko Tanga, till the High Voltage/TNT, the Sanna Rock’n’roll Breakers, Animanera and many other groups, he has been giving a meaningful contribution to the Sardinian musical history, personalizing the genres he is most devoted to. A new chapter of his personal and musical life started with this work, born from a cooperation among Alberto himself (music and lyrics’ author), Michele Palmas, S’ardmusic’s producer, and Silvano Lobina, one of the most famous musician of the island and long-standing bassist of this singer-songwriter from Cagliari, that in this very occasion also arranged the tracks of this work. A work that shows great maturity and marks a new step in Alberto Sanna’s artistic development, significantly entitled “Canzoni per (r)esister” (“Songs to exist/resist”, the two terms in Italian occur to be even more similar, since they differ just in a letter), that reveals us the main theme of the whole project, as well as the musician’s philosophy: the strong feeling of resistance, inevitably linked to the ability of living without giving up our strongest passions, such as music. Resistance as a stimulating force which a musician needs to keep going, despite the several troubles and issues that often hit the people living on an island. Sometimes even a song could be enough to resist.
Autobiographical, intimate and love dimensions, sharp texts in which the storyteller opens up with a deep sensitivity, more and more profoundly comparing to past times. An intense work including unpublished pieces, to which talented musicians gave their contribution: Alberto Sanna himself, Silvano Lobina, Paco Martucci, Claudio Corona, Lorenzo Falzoi, Daniele Cossu, Emanuele Contis, Ivan Carboni and also two special singers for the chorus: Diablo, Sikitikis’ singer, and Francesca Corrias, Sunflower Quartet’s voice.
