A long-awaited new CD from the acclaimed 12 piece ensemble Regular Music II playing music by JEREMY PEYTON JONES from recent music theatre productions and other works specially written for the ensemble.
PEYTON JONES' unique brand of contemporary music is powerfully rhythmic, lyrical and dramatic with a richly layered and dynamic sound produced by the line-up of 4 voices, strings, keyboards, brass and percussion.
The CD includes the major work North South East West, written in 1989 as a prototype section for a planned opera on navigation which became Beulah Land, at the ICA Theatre. It also includes the serene Going Down, written for the singer Melanie Pappenheim, Wardances I & II from Lumiere & Son Theatre Company's large -scale outdoor work Wardance, parts 2 & 4 of Purcell Monoeuvres, Peyton Jones' early reworking from Purcell trio sonatas and The Only Winner, the dynamic finale from the music-video performance "The Long Search for the Necessary Tool".
REGULAR MUSIC II features some of the best young musicians working in Britain today whose performing credentials include Bjork, This Heat, Lontano, Electric Phoenix, Freak Power, Loose Tubes, Carla Bley, The LSO, The Dufay Collective, Ensemble Moderne and many more.

...superb British ensemble ... rhythmic delirium guarantied (Time Out)
...powerful music (The Guardian)
...like early Baroque opera (The Observer)
In Regular Music II Peyton Jones is fortunate (and shrewd) enough to draw on the talents of individualistic, dedicated performers such as Jocelyn Pook and Charles Hayward, and his scores are precise, unhurried and well orchestrated (John L. Walters - Unknown Public)
The CD is been released with contribution of the Arts Council of England and the Department of Visual and Performing arts, Nottingham Trent University.
