Anime Migranti (Migrant Souls) is a meditative experience in music and words aimed at preventing us from forgetting where we come from.
From Sicily a multi-voiced chant cries out to us, to tell us of our own times, of times when our coasts are the theatre of terrible tragedy, a place where rafts fail to reach the shore and the waves become the graves of so many, far too many, desperate fugitives. This is why INCUDINE has invited numerous friends, artists, actors, singers, musicians to take part in this project with me, to create a sole embrace, a sole voice, a sole banner of peace and love among peoples. There used to be a Sicily which knew departure, now there is a Sicily which knows arrival. This is the Sicily that has begun to raise its voice up in song. Migration, in INCUDINE’s opinion, is a mirror reflecting History, a weave of eyes exchanging desperate glances from Palermo to Tunis, New York to Baghdad. The only solution for “migrant souls” of all eras is to follow the pathway of fellowship plotted by those who preceded us. Anime Migranti is a choral project enriched by the invaluable collaboration of Alessandro Haber, Mario Venuti, Edoardo De Angelis, Nino Frassica, Salvatore Bonafede, Faisal Taher, Lello Analfino, Anita Vitale, Kaballà, The Djeli D’Afrique and Moni Ovadia.
