Sounds, images and memories for the Italian Resistance to the Nazi-Fascist occupation
The memories of the survived, among the others Luchino Dal Verme, chief in command of the Gramsci division in the Oltrepo area (Lombardy), alternates with the songs and tunes performed by Barabàn, remembering the Partisan war from September 8th 1943 to the Liberation of Milano.
Some of the most famous songs of the Anti-fascism (Fischia il vento, Bella ciao, Oltre il Ponte, Pietà l’è morta, Eurialo e Niso, Neve e fango, Bandiera nera la vogliamo: No!), songs against the war (Gorizia), music from the Jewish tradition (Flatbush waltz), Partisan melodies (Con la guerriglia), and original compositions
form the soundtrack for this voyage in our memory.
All the music has been recorded in live performances of Baraban and underline the various moments of the video, sometimes joyful other dramatic or lyrical.
Many different filmmakers from Milano (Mietta Albertini, Giuseppe Baresi, Bruno Bigoni, Mohammed Challouf, Max Franceschini, Enzo Genesini, Anna Gorio and Renato Minotti) have recorded the various concerts and the interviews, Aurelio Citelli curates the editing.
A DVD that give the chance to discover live one of the bet Northern Italy roots music group and a period of our recent history that lately Italians and many others seem to have forgotten.
