The ascent of the mandolin to the world of prog could only continue with the famous album In The Court Of The Crimson King, one of the best progressive records of all times, called by Pete Townshend, of the Who, “a stunning masterpiece”, while critic Edward Macan said that “it could be the most influential progressive rock album ever released”. Mandol’in Progress, always trying to adhere to the innovative intentions of the records to which they are inspired, but also faithfully careful not to distort the language of plectrum instruments, goes further in the exploration of possible experiments on mandolins, entering the world of electronics and counterfeit sounds. Looking forward to the next try.

The challenge continues! The ascent of the mandolin to the world of prog could only continue with the album that in June 2015 Rolling Stone magazine placed in second place among the 50 best progressive records of all time, behind only The Dark Side of the Moon. In the Court of the Crimson King was called by Pete Townshend, of the Who, “a stunning masterpiece”, while critic Edward Macan said that “it could be the most influential progressive rock album ever released”. Always trying to adhere to the innovative intentions of the records to which we are inspired, but also faithfully careful not to distort the language of plectrum instruments, our new work goes further in the exploration of possible experiments on mandolins, entering the world of electronics and counterfeit sounds. Looking forward to the next try...
Mauro Squillante

Mauro Squillante, mandolin player, active above all in the field of early music, does not disdain excursions in contemporary music and cross over. He received his musical training at the Pollini Conservatory in Padua and later at the Schola Cantorum in Basel; he performs an intense concert activity all over the world with countless internationally renowned ensembles, holds conferences and masterclasses in Italy, London, Hungary and Japan. He works at the most prestigious Italian Opera Companies and has recorded records for the most qualified record labels in the world. He is president of the Neapolitan Mandolin Academy and professor of mandolin at the Martucci Conservatory of Salerno.

Gaetano (Gaio) Ariani was admitted to the mandolin class of the Conservatory of Bari at only 11 years old, he graduated with 10 laude and then performed with the Plectrum Orchestra of the Conservatory N. Piccinni in numerous national and international concerts. His career continues by ranking First Overall at the “IV National Competition N. Van Westerhout”, performing Verdi’s L’Otello at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa, tour with the Hator Plectrum Quartet between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan performing as a soloist with the national youth orchestra.

Valerio Fusillo, an Apulian madolinist with an eclectic style, has been passionate about this instrument since he was a child thanks to the teachings of an expert local musician. After graduating from the Coservatorio of Bari, his technique and style are perfected with prestigious academic courses and playing in chamber orchestras in Italy and abroad. The love for improvisation led him to deepen his jazz studies also at the “Berklee College of Music”. He has played for artists such as Roberto De Simone and Peppe Barra, making radio broadcastings and recordings of popular music, chamber music and experimental jazz.
