Digging Reflections on Jazz and Blues is the synthesis of an introspection and study work, started with Viaggio al Centro del Violino vol. 1 and continued with Are You Ready? and the subsequent The Blessed Prince, ideally dedicated to the figure of Amiri Baraka, reference point of EMANUELE PARRINI and ideal glue of all the material collected and its inspirations. Parrini's project includes the cornet of Taylor Ho Bynum, one of the main figures of contemporary jazz, and is the result of the collaboration between the Padova Art Center ,Novara Jazz and Pisa Jazz festivals.

EMANUELE PARRINI is becoming a point of reference in the innovation of improvisational language on the violin. Engaged on several fronts, he shares the experiences of numerous groups of different musical orientation, from the Italian Instabile Orchestra, to the Dinamitri Jazz Folklore, to the groups of Tiziano Tononi and Daniele Cavallanti and has an impressive amount of collaborations: Cecil Taylor, Amiri Baraka, John Tchicai, Anthony Braxton, William Parker, Butch Morris, Marc Ribot and many others.

TAYLOR HO BYNUM, composer, arranger, director and collaborator in multidisciplinary fields with dance, cinema and theater , THB has dealt with production, organization, teaching and writing. He is a major contributor to Anthony Braxton both as a musician and as Executive Director of the Tri-Centric Foundation, in which he has produced most of Braxton's major recent projects. He currently conducts his Sextet and 7-tits, works with many collective ensembles including a duo with drummer Tomas Fujiwara, the improvisation trio Book of Three, the cooperative group Convergence Quartet, the interdisciplinary dance / music ensemble Masters of Ceremony and the Trans-idiomatic Little Big Band Positive Catastrophe.

DIMITRI GRECHI ESPINOZA was born in Moscow in 1965. He attended Jazz Mobile in New York and completed high professional qualification courses at Siena jazz with P. Tonolo. In 1999 he founded the musical research group Dinamitri Jazz Folklore. In August 2001 he was invited to play at the Pan-African festival in Brazzaville (Congo). From March 2002 to 2003 he collaborated with Goma Parfait Ludovic, director of the Congolese company Yela wa, in the field of research on the tradition of African healing music with seminars and shows. Since 2004, he has carried out his activity mainly in two directions: the application of the results of research on traditional cultures to the music of the Dinamiti Jazz Folklore group, and to the solo concert "Oreb", in addition to the teaching activity. In 2011 he participated in the "Fesival Au Desert" in Mali, and from 2012 to 2014 he directed the project "Azalai-Carovana musica" with which he played in some of the largest European festivals.
GIOVANNI MAIER, born in 1965, is one of the best bass players and boasts record collaborations and major participation both with Italian artists such as Enrico Rava, Tiziano Tononi, Gianluigi Trovesi and Claudio Lodati, and with the likes of Richard Galliano, Tristan Honsinger, Louis Scalvis, Tony Scott, Herb Robertson, Rosweell Rudd and Keith Tippett. With his projects, he demontated to be an eclectic musician and aimed at the research and experimentation of areas and sounds. His collaboration with "Ragazzi Selvaggi", ballet on music by Enrico Rava and choreography by R. North with the participation of Tony Scott in 1996 is an example, as well as the collaboration in 1995 to the realization of the soundtrack of the film "Ketchup" winner of the First Prize of the Short Film Section of the Venice Film Festival. From his not easy instrument, Maier draws, with an uncommon ductility and variety, both in the pizzicato and with the bow but also with the complete use of the corporeity of the double bass itself, almost the soul, or even better the expression of the his artistic soul.

ANDREA MELANI started playing in 1989 with Stefano Bollani and Antonio Licusati. The Trio has collaborated with many Italian musicians: Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Marco Tamburini, Pietro Tonolo, Fabrizio Bosso, Stefano Di Battista, Emanuele Cisi, Kenny Wheeler. In 1991 he toured East Germany with the avant-garde saxophonist Mattias Schubert. From 1993 to 1997 he was a member of the Maurizio Giammarco quartet "Heart quartet", recording for Soul Note, and Blue Note. In 1996 he played in the project "Naples in Jazz" by M. Giammarco, with Paolo Fresu, Franco D’Andrea, Furio Di Castri, with a string orchestra at the Nuoro Jazz Festival. In 1997 he played with Dave Liebman "Coltrane meditation" with his group and Tribute Miles Davis with Franco D’Andrea and Marco Micheli. He moved to New York in 1997 and had the opportunity to discover and play a wide range of music (funk, African, hip hop, etc) and also play experimental and improvised music. Back in Italy in 1999, he became a member of Dinamitri Jazz Folklore playing and recording with Tony Scott, Sadiq Bay, Amiri Baraka. He plays at the Festival au desert in Mali in 2011, with Tartit, and Bombino. From 2006 he will play with Silvia Bolognesi's Open Combo. For the past fifteen years he has been a member of numerous groups: J.J. Sound (S.Bolognesi), Emanuele Parrini Quartet, Bulk (M. Avanzini, G. Baldacci).
